About Tacoma Mountain Rescue

Founded in 1958, Tacoma Mountain Rescue is a volunteer organization dedicated to saving lives through rescue and mountain safety education.

Members are experienced mountaineers who train extensively on a variety of skills and rescue techniques. Specifically, members train for rescue situations on steep mountainous terrain. Trainings include search techniques, rigging systems, patient packaging, helicopter, ELTsearch, avalanche safety and rescue, and swiftwater.

TMR is a strictly non-profit volunteer organization. All personal gear is paid for out of pocket by the members. However, we rely on the sale of our products and donations to provide the Unit with additional lifesaving equipment needed to make a successful rescue out of a potential tragedy.
